Muesli with Maple Syrup and Dried Cranberries

Muesli with Maple Syrup and Dried Cranberries

I can’t really say that making your own muesli is the cheapest thing but it certainly will be the best that you are likely to eat. I can’t say how much we enjoy eating this for breakfast.

It’s a bit unfortunate that maple syrup is so expensive here but it definitely distinguishes this muesli from most others.

Vodka Martini

Vodka Martini

Simply the worlds most sophisticated cocktail. Nothing says cocktails before dinner quite like a Vodka Martini.

Let me suggest Smirnoff Vodka or the Russian Stolichanaya also known as Stoli!  Far smoother than most others. One can drink it straight without gagging to death. A great vodka pretty much goes down like water.

Bloody Mary’s by the bucket load

Bill’s Bloody Mary’s by the bucket load.

I love Bloody Mary’s and although one is usually enough they are perfect for brunches and great for chasing away the gremlins that might be haunting you from the night before’s festivities.

This is 3 recipes for 1 drink, 10-12 drinks,

Iced Tea

Iced Tea

I don’t understand why more people don’t have this in the fridge when you visit. Its cheap, fast to make and much better than anything you can get out of a bottle.

Another advantage is that you can make it with different types of tea. I like stronger tea’s like Earl Grey and English Breakfast but my partner likes green tea which is more mild.

Old Fashion Lemonade

Old Fashion Lemonade

Make this syrup and store it in the fridge for up to week. I have adapted this recipe from Martha Stewart’s. It’s a great classic hot weather drink. The syrup can be made in advance and makes a lot of glasses of lemonade. Do enjoy it –

Sauteed Onions or Onion Gravy

Sauteed Onions or Onion Gravy

This is my own recipe and have used it for a long time. It takes awhile, about and hour but is so worth it. It is perfect for using on sausages, beef, lamb, veal or pork burgers, meat loaf and with barbequed meats. You can cook this until it dry and use it for sausages or leave a bit of liquid and use it like a sauce on a wide variety of meats.

Roast Beets with Feta Cheese

Red Beets with Feta Cheese

This is another of those “it’s not really a recipe” recipe! But it tastes great. Although it takes at least and hour to roast beets once done they can be used for up to 4 days. So you can make them the day before. This is another of those “it’s not really a recipe” recipe!

Asparagus with Sauce Hollandaise

Asparagus with Sauce Hollandaise

Use as a first course or in place of the salad course. This recipe will give enough sauce for 4-6 portions. The recipe can be doubled without a problem.

This is a classic sauce for early thin asparagus that I really enjoy. Although steamed or poached asparagus are great with a little vinaigrette,

Roasted Asparagus with Parmesan

Roasted Asparagus with Parmesan

I wouldn’t say that this is a recipe at all. It’s so simple but tasty and gives you another idea for asparagus. You can roast them without the Parmesan and serve them with a vinaigrette. I wouldn’t say that this is a recipe at all. It’s so simple but tasty and gives you another idea for asparagus.

New Potatoes Sauteed with Butter, Parsley and Spring Onions

New Potatoes Sauteed with Butter, Parsley & Spring Onions

This is a nice alternative to plain steamed new potatoes. Although fantastic as they are try this for a change with my recipe for Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breasts. Here in the Nordic countries potatoes are almost a religion. Small potatoes are available all year round.
